If you are visiting Siem Reap, and want to discover and experience a unique organic farmstay, this volunteer opportunity is for you.

OrganiKH is a beautiful permaculture project created by hosts Darin and Olivier, and located approximately one and half hour’s drive from Siem Reap, in the province of Banteay Meanchey.

You will stay in a simple bamboo-and-thatch accommodation, with views over the surrounding farmlands. Learn and participate with your hosts in sustainable building and permaculture.

Enjoy Khmer food cooked lovingly by your host family, and you can even spend time assisting in the teaching within the learning centre they have created for the local children.

Is this for me?

Property Type

OrganiKH Project is a permaculture model farm in Cambodia, aiming to promote sustainable living and to support the local community via a farmers’ co-op and responsible tourism activities.

Length of Stay:

10 days minimum

Arrival Days:

Mondays and Thursdays only

Type of work

Work-wise, usually 5-6 hours of work per day, depending on projects & weather. The day starts with breakfast and a morning meeting.
Then, depending on the season, work includes infrastructure (natural building, earthworks, woodwork) and/or gardening every other day! They do their own compost, mud bricks and much more, and a lot of time is also spent maintaining the place, cleaning, caring for plants & animals. Expect very varied work, sometimes tough or unpleasant, but always a lot of fun and sharing.

OrganiKH provides 3 nice meals per day (+ all-day water, tea, coffee, fruits, local snacks…), with products from the farm or local market, mostly Khmer and vegetarian (but not always, so please let them know if you have specific diet). In any case, the food is always tasty — Darin, your host, has been a top chef many years !

Accommodation is simple, with a mosquito net under a dorm roof (with mattress/pillow/linen provided), and 2 shared cold showers and compost toilets. If you’re lucky, maybe one of their small huts can be yours.

What to Bring

Useful items to bring: A mosquito repellent, a torch/head light, as they don’t have much electricity outside buildings yet, a hat/cap and flip-flops are a must, as well as a good dose of energy and smiles!

There is no WiFi, so it is suggested you purchase your own SIM card.
