The journey begins
The journey > Morning Tea > Phnom Prasith > Traditional Lunch > Phnom Reap
Phnom Prasith and Phnom Reap Temples are located approximately 25 kilometers from Phnom Penh. The journey itself offers views of natural lakes, rice fields, traditional houses, and locals going about their daily lives.
Phnom Prasith is situated on the top of a hill, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The temple is on the eastern summit of two hills, and visitors will enjoy the rich architecture, stupas, sculptures, and art works, including a large reclining Buddha who is reaching nirvana.
A short journey back down the hill leads you to Phnom Reap temple, or alternatively named “Prasat Vihear Suor”. It is a relatively new structure that was completed in 1998. It follows the architectural style of Angkor Wat, and is often called the “New Angkor Wat”. You will enjoy beautiful sculptures of ancient kings and the Buddha. Many local people make a pilgrimage to seek good luck and blessings from the monks.

The Journey & Morning Tea
Departing from the Guest’s chosen pick-up point we leave bustling Phnom Penh behind and head into the surrounding country side. Passing lakes, rice fields and traditional villages you will get a glimpse of more traditional ways of life. On the way, you will enjoy a local snack for morning tea.
Phnom Prasith Temple
Set high atop the eastern summit of the twin hills, Phnom Prasith Temple offers breathtaking views of the surrounding country side. Visitors will enjoy taking in this ancient structure, which is home to a community of monks going about their daily lives.
We will then continue our journey back to the base of the hill, and enjoy lunch at a traditional Khmer restaurant in a beautiful shady location, while enjoying the views of the surrounding rural landscape.
Phnom Reap Temple
Then, it is a short drive to a Buddhist centre known as “Putmondul”. Here, you will see monks and nuns, as well as many locals seeking good luck through their offerings. It is home to a magnificent reclining Buddha and many fine paintings, depicting the history of this religion.
Then, we move onto Phnom Reap Temple, which is alternatively known as “Prasat Vihear Suor”. This relatively-new structure, which was completed in 1998, and is based on the architectural style of Angkor Wat, is referred to as the new Angkor Wat.
It is home to many beautiful sculptures of ancient kings, and of Buddha. You will see many locals who have made the journey to seek the blessing of the monks in the hope of good fortune.

Depending on the service, it is customary in Asia to tip service providers, such as waiters, approximately 10%. Though not compulsory, tipping is expected and shows an expression of satisfaction with the people who have assisted you on your holiday. Although it may not be customary to you, it is of considerable significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels. There are several times during the trip where there is an opportunity to tip the local guides or drivers we use. Recommendations for tipping drivers and local guides range from $1.5-$3.5 USD per person, per day, depending on the quality and length of the service. If unsure, ask your local Green Cultural Travel representative.
When selecting your Tour or Activity please read the brochure and itinerary carefully to assess your ability to cope with the requirements of your selected product.
Safety and Security
We strongly recommend the use of a neck wallet or money belt for keeping your valuables safe. Leave your expensive jewellery at home. You won’t need it while travelling. Many of the hotels you stay at have safety deposit boxes, which is the most secure way of storing your valuables while on tour.
Protests and Demonstrations- Protests and demonstrations, even those that are well intended, have the potential to turn violent with no warning. Counter protests can also turn violent. Action by security forces to disperse demonstrators and protesters may occur at any time. If you are in an area where demonstrators or protesters are gathering, avoid the temptation of staying for a photo opportunity and leave the area immediately.
As a minimum, an average level of fitness and mobility is required to undertake our easiest programs. Travellers must be able to walk without the aid of another person, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their personal luggage.
