Sihanouk Ville is home to a working port. We start our tour with an exploration of the bustling port, with everything from container ships to local fishing boats.
Next, we continue on to the bustling central markets, and we will take time to explore this treasure trove. From fresh seafood and seasonal fruit to clothes and so much more, find that special gift, and do not forget to bargain. We will sample some local snacks for morning tea, before heading out to explore the city.
Beach and City Tour
We explore the city with its beautiful hinterland, and numerous beaches. Each of the beaches has its own character, from Otres Beach — which is a favourite of the Europeans — to spots loved by locals to swim, relax and eat seafood.
Kbal Chhay Waterfall
We then head out of to Kbal Chhay Waterfall located in Khan Prey Nup, about 16 kilometers north of the downtown Sihanoukville. The water at Kbal Chhay comes from many sources along the mountain range, although only three of these sources are visible. The waterfall, which is 14 meters high, is at the point where those three sources join together.
Kbal Chhay was discovered in 1960. Three years later, it was developed into a reservoir to supply clean water to the city of Sihanoukville. The reservoir construction, however, was interrupted due to the civil war, and the site became a hideout for the Khmer Rouge. In 1997, Kbal Chhay was marked for development, and a year later, Kok An Company was awarded a contract to construct a road and develop the site for tourism.
Guests can then relax “local-style” in a hammock, and then enjoy a traditional Khmer lunch at one of the local restaurants overlooking the falls.
Waterfall and rockpools
Guests are free to explore the area around the waterfall, relax, swim in the rockpools, or take a refreshing shower under one of the waterfalls.

Depending on the service, it is customary in Asia to tip service providers, such as waiters, approximately 10%. Though not compulsory, tipping is expected and shows an expression of satisfaction with the people who have assisted you on your holiday. Although it may not be customary to you, it is of considerable significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels. There are several times during the trip where there is an opportunity to tip the local guides or drivers we use. Recommendations for tipping drivers and local guides range from $1.5-$3.5 USD per person, per day, depending on the quality and length of the service. If unsure, ask your local Green Cultural Travel representative.
When selecting your Tour or Activity please read the brochure and itinerary carefully to assess your ability to cope with the requirements of your selected product.
Safety and Security
We strongly recommend the use of a neck wallet or money belt for keeping your valuables safe. Leave your expensive jewellery at home. You won’t need it while travelling. Many of the hotels you stay at have safety deposit boxes, which is the most secure way of storing your valuables while on tour.
Protests and Demonstrations- Protests and demonstrations, even those that are well intended, have the potential to turn violent with no warning. Counter protests can also turn violent. Action by security forces to disperse demonstrators and protesters may occur at any time. If you are in an area where demonstrators or protesters are gathering, avoid the temptation of staying for a photo opportunity and leave the area immediately.
As a minimum, an average level of fitness and mobility is required to undertake our easiest programs. Travellers must be able to walk without the aid of another person, climb 3-4 flights of stairs, step on and off small boats, and carry their personal luggage.
